What happened to the 457 Visa?
This has been superseded by the new Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482).
What is a 482 Visa?
The new 482 Visa is now the most commonly used visa for employers to sponsor overseas individuals to work in Australia on a temporary basis. The employer must be an approved Standard Business Sponsorship or hold a Labour Agreement by the Department of Home Affairs. Geoffrey Nathan Consulting Inc are an approved sponsor.
I have a candidate that is currently on a 457 visa but as a business we are not able to sponsor, can Geoffrey Nathan Consulting Inc assist with this?
Yes, Geoffrey Nathan Consulting Inc can take over the nomination and employment of existing 457 visa holders for supply and on-hire back to you the end user company.
How long is a 482 Visa valid for?
This depends on what list the occupation falls under, if on the short-term skilled occupation list (STSOL) – the visa validity is a maximum of 2 years (option for one further on-shore renewal, for a further two years)
If on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL), the visa can have a maximum validity of 4 years’.
*Both visa options will be granted dependent of contract length.
We have a candidate we would like to engage who does NOT currently hold a TSS Visa, the Company is unable to sponsor directly can Geoffrey Nathan Consulting Inc help?
Yes, Geoffrey Nathan Consulting Inc is able to sponsor eligible individuals under our Labour Agreement and on-hire their services back to you the end user company.
Who would the employer be?
Geoffrey Nathan Consulting Inc will be the employer.
Can you assess eligibility before we offer the job to the candidate?
Yes, our Migration team can assess eligibility prior to you offering the job role and can also make contact with the candidate that you are interviewing to explain the application process.
What requirements do we need to be aware of for the candidate to be eligible for a 482 Visa through Geoffrey Nathan Consulting Inc?
- You must offer a full time/permanent job or a contract role in excess of 6 months
- The occupation must be listed on our Labour Agreement and be on the current sponsored occupation listing the candidate falls within
- The candidate must have over 5 years’ experience or a relevant degree with 2 years’ experience
- The salary offered needs to be a minimum of $ 80,000 inclusive of Superannuation, but also meet the Market Salary levels for the sponsored occupation
- Must meet any caveats listed by the Department of Home Affairs
- Must meet the Labour Market Testing in place at time of lodgement
