What is Salary Packaging?

Salary packaging is an alternative way of being paid remuneration. A portion of the gross salary is sacrificed in return for non-cash, employer provided benefits.

The basic principal of salary packaging is to provide choice in how individuals are remunerated. Salary packaging effectively reduces the taxable portion of the remuneration, resulting in less tax being deducted and an increase in the net take home pay.
